The ongoing riots in regions of Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal have brought a lot of manpower out to both protect against more property damage, and retrieve items looted amid the chaos.
Security forces, including the South African Police Service (SAPS) have been going house to house in both provinces to return stolen items to their places of origin. It has been said that not only the looters will suffer consequences of their actions, but so will those who decide to do business with looters with regards to the stolen merchandise.
Police Ministry Spokesperson, Lirandzu Themba shared on social media that the police are warning that those who have been buying items from looters will be arrested on the grounds that they are in possession of stolen property.
